French Film Fest

The 2026 French Film Festival will take place from November 19 to 25, showcasing the best of contemporary French cinema—ranging from grand historical dramas to intimate documentaries.

This year’s edition—the 29th—will present 14 pre-premiere titles, including films acclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival. Audiences can look forward to the comedy Comédie-Française by directors Martin Darondeau and Bertrand Usclat, and the romantic film Electric Kiss by director Pierre Salvadori. The lineup also features the drama A Woman’s Life (directed by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet and starring Léa Drucker) and the psychological thriller Tales of the Night. Fans of historical cinema will appreciate the two-part film De Gaulle 1: Resistance and De Gaulle 2: Freedom by director Antonin Baudry.

The Prague leg of the festival will feature the “Czech Critics’ Choice” competition section—with six films vying for the Audience Award—as well as the traditional Short Film Night.

In 2026, the festival will pay tribute to one of the most distinctive figures in French cinema—director, screenwriter, and documentarian Agnès Varda—by screening three key works from her filmography: Cléo from 5 to 7, Creatures, and One Sings, the Other Doesn’t.

Once again, the French Film Festival confirms that high-quality European cinema holds a firm place in Prague, captivating audiences with its depth, emotion, and artistic resonance.
