Festival Behind the Doors Prague

Street theatre, acrobatics, new circus performances, music and unforgettable experiences. The popular festival Za dveřmi returns this year for the eighteenth time and from July 14 to 19 will offer six days full of international street art in the center of Prague.

The public spaces of the capital, the Prague Exhibition Grounds and Mariánské náměstí, will be transformed into spectacular theatre stages for a week.

The festival traditionally focuses on the best of the domestic and international street theatre scene and presents both proven ensembles and new discoveries. Visitors can look forward to spectacular open-air performances, more intimate projects and unconventional artistic formats that will transform the public space into a lively cultural centre.

The main festival events will take place at the Prague Exhibition Grounds in front of the Industrial Palace and also on Mariánské náměstí. This year’s edition will also celebrate its “coming of age” in grand style. The opening programme will welcome an eight-metre and almost two-tonne congratulatory figure from Třešť, who will become one of the festival’s dominant features.

There will also be a popular Family Day with a programme for children and playful adults. The organisers are also preparing the traditional Grande Finale – a final gala show that will ceremonially close the entire festival.

One of the festival’s greatest strengths is its openness. Most of the program is accessible on a voluntary admission basis, so visitors of all generations can enjoy the unique atmosphere of international street theater.
