Malta Philharmonic Orchestra

European Tour of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Guest Star Stella Chen. After a successful concert tour last year, the renowned Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is once again embarking on a European tour.

As musical ambassador of their small homeland, the orchestra will make stops at the legendary Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Herkulessaal in Munich, the luxurious Kurhaus in Wiesbaden and the monumental Dome Hall of the Hannover Congress Centre.

The guest star of the programme is 29-year-old virtuoso Stella Chen. Her career took off in a big way when she won the 2019 Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels.
The American violinist has played with orchestras such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic and the Luxembourg Philharmonic at festivals and major venues around the world.

Together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sergei Smbatyan, she is soloist in Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s magnificent Violin Concerto and contemporary composer Alexei Shor’s Violin Concerto.

Both works enter the program in dialogue with excerpts from Aram Khachaturian’s ballet suite “Spartacus”.
