Photo exhibition: (In)visible squares

The Photo exhibition: (In)visible squares offers an impressive photographic walk through the beauties of Italian squares, inviting you to reflect on the historic moment of the “stop” and all the elements of national identity that have developed around the term “piazza” throughout Italy’s history.

The story of the squares captured between the end of March and the beginning of May 2020, the days when Italy, like most countries in the world, went through a difficult phase of isolation, is based on images by many photographers and descriptions by famous contemporary Italian authors such as Edoardo Albinati, Liliana Cavani, Marcello Fois, Helena Janeczek, Nicola Lagioia, Maurizio Maggiani, Valerio Magrelli, Elisabetta Rasy, Giorgio van Straten and Sandro Veronesi. It is a dialogue between image and word, between already proven authors and beginners, between lesser-known squares and those known around the world, between rediscovered architecture and social relationships that need to be rethought.

This project was designed and prepared by Marco Delogu and promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The event is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague in cooperation with the Italian Embassy and the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
