A truly special day awaits visitors at the Svábhegy Observatory on Saturday, three days after the summer solstice. You can explore the astronomical sites at your own pace, with scientific, interactive, fun and astronomy-related activities after dark. Beetween the daytime and evening astronomy, you’ll be able to quench your thirst at the First Craft Beer beer tasting program.

17:00-19:00 Daytime Astronomy:
The Stargate opens at 17:00! Early arrivals will be able to see the sunspots and solar flares of the setting sun with our solar telescopes set up at the Observatory!

19:00-21:00 The dance of Venus and the crescent moon:
On this evening, the crescent Venus and the crescent Moon will play a strange game: both celestial bodies are in phase at 35%. So our first task will be to look through the telescope and guess: are we looking at the Moon crescent or the Venus crescent?

Evening Beer Tasting: If you’re thirsty on a warm summer evening, First Craft Beer has a special beer tasting program for craft beer lovers!
Since its foundation in 2016, FIRST Craft Beer has become an unavoidable player in modern Hungarian craft brewing.

The starry sky awaits you as night falls!
21:30-23:00 – Evening stargazing Mars-Venus conjunction:
At the beginning of the evening, enjoy the conjunction of pale and red Mars and bright white Venus from the Rooftop Terrace.
At the Telescope Workshop, the Observation Terrace and the Budapest Dome, we will take a look at the most beautiful binaries and deep-sky objects of the early summer sky.
We’ll see such celestial giants as the M13 globular cluster of half a million stars in the constellation Hercules, and the Ring Nebula in the constellation Lant, which expands around it like a magnificent cosmic smoke ring.
