For one day, the time machine comes back to life, allowing us to step into the fascinating world of Steampunk in one of Budapest’s most unique community spaces. As part of RAKPART~2026, Steampunk enthusiasts, creators and everyone fascinated by the atmosphere of the Victorian era, the world of steam-powered machines, extraordinary clothing and imaginative alternative universes can come together once again this Saturday.

But what exactly is Steampunk? The style imagines an alternative world in which steam-powered technology continued to evolve, giving rise to machines, devices and inventions that never actually existed. The unique combination of Victorian elegance, mechanical creations, gears and futuristic ideas creates a truly distinctive atmosphere.

From 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, visitors can explore the Steampunk market, where they can meet the designers and creators behind the unique Steampunk pieces. The market will feature everything from goggles, corsets and headpieces to lace, jewellery and other extraordinary handmade accessories. If you would like to create something yourself, you can also take part in a workshop led by Melani, where you can design your own Steampunk stickers and jewellery and create a unique Victorian time-traveller accessory to take home.

The event will also feature talks and presentations. At 2:00 PM, Tinka will be the special guest, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the world of writing and publishing. Then, at 4:00 PM, visitors can attend a fascinating presentation about bizarre hobbies and unusual pastimes from the Victorian era – with plenty of intriguing stories you probably never heard about in history class.

For those who would like to experience how 19th-century mechanical stress relief can be reimagined in a modern and safe way, there will also be a special 15-minute “steam pressure release” session following the presentation.

Fans of role-playing games will not be left out either. New adventures await in the world of Castle Falkenstein, bringing the unique universe of Falkenstein Castle back to life. Creative visitors can also join the Draw Club, where they can create and draw exciting heroes and characters.

At 6:00 PM, the music of Clockwork Harmonies will add even more atmosphere to the evening. And if you really want to become part of the Steampunk world, why not arrive dressed according to the Steampunk–Goth dress code? Your outfit will not only help you embrace the atmosphere of the event, but will also give you the opportunity to take part in an free photo session with Dr. Leslie Aromo, creating a truly unique memory of the day.

The event is free to attend, making it a great choice for anyone who wants to take a break from the usual Budapest programmes for an afternoon and discover a completely different world.

The Steampunk event is part of RAKPART~2026. This summer, the section of the Pest lower embankment between the Chain Bridge and Elisabeth Bridge will once again be transformed into a pedestrian-friendly space. Instead of car traffic, visitors can enjoy a recreational park and temporary community space. The initiative aims to create a closer connection between the city, the Danube and the people who live and visit here.

If you love unique subcultures, creative activities, historical atmospheres, role-playing games, or simply want to experience something completely different in Budapest, then this Saturday is the perfect opportunity to step into the time machine and visit the Steampunk event at RAKPART~2026.

Location: Pest lower embankment, between Chain Bridge and Elisabeth Bridge, Viadukt Bár

Date: August 15 (Saturday)

Programme: 1:00 PM–8:00 PM
