GeekCon Budapest

On 10 May, the gates of one of Budapest’s most popular geek conventions will open again: for the seventh time, GeekCon returns, this time at the Ferencváros Cultural Centre. This special event has become a tradition in the Hungarian geek community, attracting more and more fans from the world of sci-fi, fantasy, anime, video games, superheroes and other geek cultures every year.

For one day, the event becomes a community space where fans become passions, hobbies become experiences, and the unknown becomes a community. If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in the universe you really love, this is a day not to be missed.

This year’s edition of GeekCon will offer an even richer programme: visitors will be able to attend a full day of lectures, talks and interactive sessions covering a wide range of pop culture topics. Among the invited guests of the organisers will be once again well-known synchronised actors, popular Hungarian youtubers and content creators who have been key players in the Hungarian geek scene for many years. Cosplay fans will not be disappointed either: spectacular costumes, contests, photo opportunities will complete the experience. Those who are more drawn to the world of video games can try their hand at retro and modern consoles, while anime and manga fans will find separate sections.

The special thing about the event is that it is not only for hardcore fans: as a family-friendly programme, younger generations are also welcome to join in, so parents can bring their children to discover this unique culture together. The social spaces on site will offer the opportunity to meet and chat, but also to meet your favourite content producers. The atmosphere is both festival-like and cosy – like a giant living room where everyone is brought together by the same passion.

GeekCon 2025 will retain its affordable prices, and although tickets can be purchased on site, it’s worth booking in advance to ensure you can attend, as the event sells out quickly every year. If you’re looking to escape reality for a day and be part of a world where imagination knows no bounds, then 10 May is the day to do it.
