Makers’ Market Budapest

On August 23, Fény Utcai Piac will once again come alive as Makers’ Market brings together nearly 100 Hungarian designers and makers, showcasing some of the finest handcrafted creations – all in one place, for one day.

If you enjoy browsing unique objects, discovering local designers and finding special handmade pieces, Fény Utcai Piac is the place to be on August 23. This Sunday, the market will once again be filled with creativity and a vibrant atmosphere, as nearly 100 Hungarian designers and makers bring their latest work to Makers’ Market Budapest. It’s a great opportunity to discover some of the most exciting pieces of Hungary’s contemporary design scene, all gathered together for one day.

The selection will be wonderfully diverse. Visitors can browse graphic prints, unique ceramics, jewellery, clothing and fashion accessories, home décor pieces, as well as a carefully curated selection of gourmet and deli treats. The market is also a chance to find objects you won’t see everywhere – handmade, produced in small batches or created as one-of-a-kind pieces, often reflecting the personal style and creative vision of their maker.

Make Your Own Leather Travel Journal in 30 Minutes

One of the highlights of the market will be a bookbinding workshop hosted by Manufaktura Workshop with Laura Sásdi. During the workshop, participants can create their own leather travel journal in around 30 minutes. Once the journal is filled, it can even be refilled with a new notebook insert, making it a practical companion for future adventures.

A wide range of leather colours and types will be available, so everyone can choose the one that best suits their personal style. Each finished journal will therefore be a little different and truly personal.

The A6 version costs HUF 4,500, while the A5 version costs HUF 8,500. Additional notebook inserts are available for HUF 1,500. Both cash and card payments are accepted at the workshop.

The workshop is completely beginner-friendly, so you can join even if you have never tried bookbinding before. No advance registration is required – you can drop by and join the workshop at any time during the market. Please note that children can only participate with a parent, as the process involves tools such as a needle, hammer and utility knife.

Music, Meeting Makers & a Slow Sunday

Throughout the day, the atmosphere will be accompanied by records played by DJs Donnie Jep and Kisjankó, providing the perfect soundtrack for browsing, chatting and discovering new favourites.

Four-legged visitors are also very welcome, so there’s no need to leave your furry family members at home.

Makers’ Market Budapest is about more than simply shopping. It’s an opportunity to meet the makers behind the products, learn more about their work, find inspiration, have conversations and discover objects that carry a story, personal touch and genuine creative work.
