On Saturday, 26 October, the eighth year of the unique educational event in Slovakia, the Skin market, will take place in Bratislava. You can expect free advice, consultations, the latest products in the field of dermato-cosmetics, modern spa treatment or natural cosmetics.

The 8th edition will be held again on the last Saturday of October on the occasion of the World Psoriasis Day in three regional cities Bratislava (Nivy centrum), Banská Bystrica (Oc Europa) and Košice (OC Galéria) from 10.00 to 18.00.

The aim of the Skin Market is to offer visitors free advice, consultations and expert lectures by dermatologists in order to raise awareness of skin diseases and their treatment and diagnostic options, as well as to de-stabilise the psychological stigma and impact on patients with visible skin defects.

“In the six years of the Skin Market’s existence, we have averaged 2,500 consultations, capturing many unaddressed dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia, among others, each year. A sad trend is the ever-increasing incidence of malignant skin tumours which is confirmed by the routine screenings during this event. Almost half of the skin masses are sent by our colleagues to outpatient clinics for further examinations or directly for surgical removal with obligatory histological laboratory diagnosis. Early detection of any skin change is the fastest and most successful treatment option”, says Assoc. MUDr. Dušan Buchvald , President of SDVS.

The skin market will be held for eight hours from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm at the NIVA centre on the ground floor, where four discreet and six public skin consultation rooms will be available for visitors in the presence of dermatovenerologists.

In addition to checking moles with a dermatoscope, there will be the opportunity to consult any skin problems and children, adults and seniors. Exhibitors and partners of the Skin Market will be presenting the latest products in the field of dermato-cosmetics or other modern spa treatments or natural cosmetics in their booths.

This year, the Skin Market will also add the option of rapid blood self-tests to determine long-term blood sugar levels, or BMI analysis, which can equally early detect the direction of an individual’s health style and determine the tendency of diabetes 2, which can also lead to a variety of dermatological systemic diseases.

The main stage at the Skin Market will once again be dedicated to expert discussions with leading Slovak physicians not only in the field of dermatovenerology .
