Come celebrate St. Martin’s Day in the historic city center. In addition to good wine, you can look forward to a varied music program, competitions, guided tours for people with disabilities, and a quiz on wine and good food.
Since the days of Austria-Hungary, the celebrations of St. Martin have been associated with the wine-making tradition. Every year in November, not only in Slovakia, but also in the Czech Republic and Austria, the first wines of the year’s harvest are opened. According to an old tradition, the wine from the current year’s harvest is blessed by a church dignitary. The young wines will be blessed on the first day of the festival by Bratislava Archbishop Stanislav Zvolenský in the Chapel of St. Ladislav in the Primatial Palace.
