ÚĽUV Craftsmen days

The largest urban festival of traditional Slovak crafts, ÚĽUV MASTERS’ DAYS 2026, will take place from September 5 to September 6, 2026, at Main Square, Franciscan Square, Primatial Square, and St. George’s Courtyard.

For the 36th time, the ÚĽUV Masters’ Days festival will come to the center of the capital city of Bratislava. This year’s ÚĽUV activities focus on WIREWORK, a craft that Slovaks made famous around the world in the 19th century and which, in 2019, was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity under the title “Wirework—Craft and Art.” This unique craft will be the central theme of this year’s festival.

This year, the festival is changing its location and moving to the very heart of Bratislava. During the first weekend of September 5–6, 2026,  Main Square, Franciscan Square, Primatial Square, and St. George’s Courtyard will come alive with this craft.

What can you look forward to?

– a fair of master crafts,

– a zone for demonstrating tinkering techniques,

– demonstrations of traditional crafts and meetings with manufacturers

– popular creative workshops for children organized by the ÚĽUV School of Crafts, which has been included in the UNESCO List of Good Practices for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2024,

– a varied music and dance accompanying program,

– performances by folklore ensembles,

– discussions,

– dance workshops and a dance school.

The festival will include a family relaxation and game zone and a gastro zone with Slovak cuisine.
