We have tip for all lovers of classical music and operetta. Come and enjoy the immortal melodies performed by the Metropolitan Orchestra of Bratislava at Tyršák this Sunday at 9 PM.
A varied mix of operetta tunes with Bratislava Castle in the background and our Metropolitan Orchestra of Bratislava quintet with its soloist Marianna Gelenekyova will take you through the history of Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest when operetta ruled Europe in a whirl of waltzes and in the embrace of tango.
The Metropolitan Orchestra Bratislava focuses mainly on music based on the Viennese waltzes of the Strauss family, through classical operettas to contemporary works. An important part of the repertoire consists of works by Slovak composers. The Metropolitan Orchestra Bratislava cooperates closely with the Bratislava Cultural Association. This association was founded in 2010 and brings together several enthusiasts who are interested in preserving the musical traditions of the Bratislava region. The orchestra’s activities support the traditions by reviving the Bratislava New Year Concerts. These are also broadcast on radio and television. In this way, the Metropolitan Orchestra Bratislava and the Bratislava Cultural Society bring the pleasure of music not only to concert-goers, but also to the general listening and viewing public.
