Author Reading Month

In 2026, MAČ, Central Europe’s largest literary festival, will bring the works of authors from Greenland—a land of distinctive voices, powerful stories, Arctic landscapes, Inuit traditions, and contemporary issues of identity, colonialism, language, and humanity’s relationship with nature—to Rómer House.

Books—or rather, the written word—are what change the world around us. You simply cannot destroy an idea. And that is precisely why the written word and reading it aloud are so important.

Authors such as Nuka Alice Lund, Konrad Nuka Godtfredsen, Cecilie Vahl, Nauja Lynge, and many other prominent writers will be coming to Bratislava to read their works. You’ll be able to hear them throughout July at Rómer House.

This year, Bratislava will host a shortened version of the festival; we’ll meet daily from July 18 to August 3, always at 7:00 p.m. at Rómer House. This year’s edition will be dedicated exclusively to Greenlandic guests—without a lineup of local authors.
