Bratislava period picnic

History and fashion lovers will once again spread out their colorful blankets and picnic baskets on the green meadows of Janka Kráľ Park near the Gothic Tower.

This event of the year will once again focus on the period from 1900 to 1950.

Take your grandmother’s blanket, air out your picnic baskets, find your skittles or badminton rackets, leave your cell phones at home, and spend a pleasant day just like our grandparents did in their youth. If you pull out a piece of clothing from that period from your closet, you will feel even more like you are in a bygone era and you will add to the magical atmosphere of this picnic.

And what kind of picnic would it be without good food and drinks?

You can look forward to:

• wines from Kollar Winery
• freshly made Cisár langos
• traditional Leberkäse
• crispy pastries from Cisár’s bakery
• homemade lemonades from Limča Bar
• coffee from Mr. Králiček

The afternoon program will also feature accompanying activities for all ages. You can test your strategic skills at the Račianska Chess Academy or with the popular game of Cornhole. You’ll also get a glimpse into the world of traditional crafts through a presentation of bobbin lace-making combined with a mini-workshop. Creative souls will enjoy an outdoor art workshop led by Marek Baranec or Mgr. art. Zuzana Svatik.

The atmosphere of the Period Picnic will be complemented by craft stalls with original products from ceramics and leather goods to jewelry, honey and wax products to textile decorations and felt accessories, which carry a piece of traditional skill and originality.

The program will feature music from this era and there will be no shortage of craft demonstrations, stalls with delicacies and hand-made products. The evening will be rounded off by the well-known FATS JAZZ BAND, which is dedicated to hot jazz and swing music from the 1920s – 1940s.
