Book lovers should definitely not miss the 31st edition of the international book fair and literary festival Svět knihy Praha, taking place from May 14 to 17, 2026 at Výstaviště Praha Holešovice in the Křižík pavilions and adjacent halls.
This prestigious festival is the largest celebration of books in the Czech Republic each year and offers a unique meeting point for readers, authors, publishers, and experts from around the world. Visitors can look forward to a rich program full of author readings, discussions, presentations, and professional seminars. Whether you enjoy fiction or non-fiction, or are visiting with children, youth, or as part of the professional community, there is something for everyone.
A major highlight is the lineup of international guests, including prominent names from the global literary scene such as Nobel Prize laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah and French thriller writer Bernard Minier. The program will also focus on important contemporary themes, inspired by Milan Kundera’s idea of memory as a form of resistance against forgetting.
The festival will also feature an extensive exhibition section, with hundreds of exhibitors from more than 30 countries. Visitors will find the latest book releases, often at discounted prices, and have the opportunity to discover new authors and literary trends.
Special attention will be given to young readers and families. A diverse program for children will include interactive activities and projects supporting reading habits. The comics and visual arts section will also be significantly expanded, offering inspiration not only for illustration enthusiasts.
Svět knihy Praha is not just a fair, but a comprehensive cultural experience that connects literature with current social topics and creates space for inspiration, education, and meaningful encounters.
