The musical is a theatrical adaptation of a film that perhaps everyone is familiar with. In 1992, The Bodyguard became an instant worldwide hit. The film has two Academy Award (Oscar) nominations in the Best Picture Song category. The official soundtrack for the film was number one on the best-selling movie soundtrack chart for an incredible 17 years.
The world premiere of the musical took place in London in 2012 and the libretto was written by Alexander Dinelaris, based on the film of the same name by screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
The bright and talented singing star and ultimately mother, Rachel Marron, is bullied by a mysterious fan. Her manager entrusts Frank Farmer, a charismatic professional bodyguard, to solve the problem.
Get swept away by a beloved story with contemporary staging techniques. A story full of emotion, passion, suspense, humour and of course the dominant, captivating songs of Whitney Houston accompanied by a 12-piece band with excellent lyrics by Martin Sarvas.
