Echoes of Art Film

The most popular films from the 32nd Art Film International Film Festival are coming to Kino Lumière as part of the ART FILM ECHOES series.

Three Thursdays in September will bring three exceptional cinematic experiences—the suspenseful crime thriller Tuner by Oscar-winning director Daniel Roher, starring Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman; the French crime drama The Bojarski Affair, inspired by the true story of a legendary counterfeiter; and the acclaimed chamber drama Calle Málaga, which won over audiences at the Venice Film Festival. Powerful stories, exceptional performances, and films that have captivated audiences at prestigious international festivals.

The festival will take place at Kino Lumière from September 3 to 17, 2026.

A suspenseful crime thriller with elements of drama and romance, marking director Daniel Roher’s feature film debut. Roher, who won the Audience Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival for *Navalny* and subsequently an Oscar for Best Feature-Length Documentary, delivers a surprising and captivating story about a talent operating on the edge of the law. The protagonist is Niki, a piano tuner whose exceptionally sensitive hearing leads him to an unexpected discovery: he can “hear” the mechanisms of safes and open them. When he finds himself under pressure from financial problems and life circumstances, he becomes entangled in a world of crime that threatens both his relationships and his very identity.

A gripping French crime film inspired by the true story of one of the 20th century’s most brilliant counterfeiters. The story is set in postwar France, where Polish refugee and engineer Jan Bojarski uses his extraordinary technical talent to produce nearly perfect banknotes. In secret, he produces them for years in his own backyard—with such high quality that he even deceives the French National Bank. The film follows his double life, in which genius is intertwined with the constant risk of exposure. Opposing him is the obsessed Commissioner Mattei, for whom the case becomes a personal mission and a dramatic game of cat and mouse. Reda Kateb portrays Bojarsky with great conviction and sensitivity, thanks to which the character comes across not only as a criminal but also as a man shaped by circumstances, his own abilities, and his inner conflicts. 3. Calle Málaga

The peace of María Ángeles, an aging Spanish woman who has spent her entire life in Tangier, is disrupted in her twilight years when her daughter decides to sell the apartment where María has lived for several decades. However, María refuses to accept the loss of her home and embarks on a struggle to preserve her living space and her memories. Gradually, she gains new energy, renews relationships, and rediscovers love and desire.

The film is a sensitive reflection on old age, identity, and the right to make decisions about one’s own life. It emphasizes the dignity of women in later life and shows that even in times of loss, one can find freedom, passion, and new beginnings.
