COURAGE – this is the subtitle of the 18th edition of the Otherness Film Festival, which will take place from 20 to 26 November 2024 in Bratislava.
Slovak Queer Film will bring more than 30 films that will allow the audience to get to know LGBTI+ people and the whole rainbow community better. The festival wants to fight against hatred and prejudice through film stories. It also creates a safe space where queer people and their friends and families can come together in a respectful and friendly atmosphere.
The 30 short films will compete for the Best Queer Short Film Award in the Shorts – International Competition section of the festival. In total, more than 25 countries will be represented in the programme.
The film offer is traditionally divided into several sections, so that the festival offers the most diverse programme in terms of genres, types, themes and countries of origin: Panorama – contemporary queer film, Kraťasy – international competition, Kraťasy – special screening, Warm Czechoslovakia, Classics and Children’s Zone. There will also be a traditionally rich accompanying programme for the audience, which will follow the theme of the Courage Festival.
We need it more than ever. So that we can create freely, love openly and live authentically. COURAGE.
The 18th Annual Otherness Film Festival will pay tribute to those who are not afraid to stand up for their lives. It will also offer a safe space for those/those who lack courage or are just looking for it.
