Traditional festival Mountains and City in spring time! Super guests, family atmosphere, experience evenings, great films, screenings for schools.
When the adrenaline of the world’s highest peaks meets the energy of the big city, the result is an experience that not only takes viewers’ breath away but also pushes them even deeper into their theater seats. These feelings are evoked by the popular Mountains and City festival, which will take place on the Danube embankment in Bratislava.
Last year, the popular mountain film and adventure festival Mountains and the City celebrated its 25th anniversary with a spectacular move to the Danube embankment. This year, it returns to the Cinema City theaters in the Eurovea shopping center to confirm that the combination of top-notch mountain films and the vibrant city center creates an atmosphere you won’t experience anywhere else.
More than just a view of the screen—an emotion that moves you.
As always, the festival is not just about passively watching movies in theaters. Mountains and City 2026 now represents a vast community of people—enthusiasts who share a passion for adrenaline and, at the same time, a respect for nature.
The organizers have prepared a selection of world cinema for visitors that will transport them from their comfortable seats straight to snow-capped peaks, deep canyons, or steep climbing walls. “Last year at Eurovea showed us that the festival has gained new momentum. This year, we want to raise the bar even higher. We’ve focused our film selection on stories that aren’t just about physical performance, but about deep human motivation,” says festival program director Alan Formánek.
What can you look forward to?

Inspiring Guests
This year, we will once again welcome legends of the outdoor world to the stage, who will offer a behind-the-scenes look at their expeditions through multimedia presentations.
The Atmosphere on the Danube
The Eurovea venue will once again allow you to combine the festival program with relaxation on the riverfront, discussions in the lobby, and sharing shared experiences.
The program also caters to families with children and schools, for whom special morning sessions and an educational trail have been prepared, allowing the festival to fulfill its important educational and environmental role.
Only we are the species who managed to rearrange the nature around us fulfil our needs and also to get to the point that there is no real predator out there which we truly need to fear – we are at the very top of the food pyramid. But besides the fact that we never truly managed to learn when it is a better idea to leave nature to do its thing, we are paying for our top-food-pyramid place in other forms, too – we have lost the connection with nature, with mountains and forests and what they should mean to us.
The film festival on offer is a reminder of this relationship from many angles and perspectives – runners, climbers and other athletes overcoming themselves in their journeys through nature, stories of people whose experiences connected to nature have helped them overcome great sadness.
This year’s festival traditionally includes a Festival Nature Trail and screenings for schools.
