On the second weekend of September, Vienna’s Heldenplatz transforms into the stage for Austria’s largest harvest festival. Farmers, vintners, and producers from all regions bring the country’s diversity to the heart of the capital.
At a large farmers’ market, visitors can sample regional specialties such as cheese, honey, pumpkin seed oil, and fine wines and beers, and enjoy hearty delicacies directly from the stalls. Folk music, traditional dances, and colorful parades create an authentic rural atmosphere against the imperial backdrop of the Hofburg Palace.
Families with children are especially welcome: petting zoo animals, milking demonstrations, and fun games centered around agriculture make the festival an experience for young and old alike.
Admission is free – the Harvest Festival offers the perfect opportunity to celebrate rural traditions, enjoy concerts, and experience a piece of regional culture right in the heart of Vienna.
When: September 12–13, 2026
Where: Heldenplatz, Vienna
Admission: free
