Viennale Film Festival

From October 22 to November 3, Vienna transforms into a vibrant hub of international cinema.

The Viennale is Austria’s international film festival and ranks among the most long-standing and prestigious film festivals in the German-speaking world.

Audiences at the Viennale can look forward to a carefully curated selection of feature films, documentaries, short films, and experimental works. The program ranges from outstanding works of contemporary world cinema and exciting discoveries from independent studios to retrospectives and tributes honoring pioneering figures in film history.

The 2026 edition takes place from October 22 to November 3, marking the festival’s 64th year. In addition to film screenings, venues such as the historic Gartenbaukino and other selected city cinemas (Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus, Urania, Austrian Film Museum, and METRO Kinokulturhaus) will host numerous special events, Q&A sessions with directors, and panel discussions. The Viennale thus offers not only world-class cinema but also a unique setting for artistic exchange and personal interaction between filmmakers and the audience.

The complete program for the 2026 Viennale will be released on the official website on Tuesday, October 13, at 8:00 PM.
