The Lainzer Tiergarten is one of Vienna’s largest and most beautiful nature reserves, home to freely roaming deer, mouflons, and wild boars in a vast, shady forest. Located on the western edge of the city, at the border of the Vienna Woods, it’s a perfect destination whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or a longer hike.
In the heart of the park stands the Hermesvilla, a “dream house” gifted by Emperor Franz Joseph to Empress Elisabeth (Sissi). Its elegant rooms and exhibitions offer a glimpse into the lives of the imperial couple, all while being surrounded by the peaceful beauty of nature.
Practical Information:

Admission: Lainzer Tiergarten free; Hermesvilla approx. €7 per adult
Getting there: Around 30 minutes by public transport from Vienna’s city center
Recommended duration: Half-day trip
Location: 1130 Vienna
