Wet Leg came out of nowhere and went viral with the hyper-energetic debut single “Chaise Longue”. Since then, they’ve advanced rapidly. Hype and accolades. Club gigs and festivals. Indie singles and a debut album that went straight to number one in the UK charts. To call Wet Leg the hottest debut artists of the year is no empty exaggeration.

Behind Wet Leg are Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers from the Isle of Wright. Like so many brilliant decisions, it was while drunk that they decided to start a band. Armed with guitars and spontaneous whims, they filter inspiration plucked from The Ronettes, Best Coast, The Strokes and B52s through Rhian and Hester’s shared love of French disco.

After a successful Sweden premiere at Rosendal Garden Party, they return this autumn for a club gig at Debaser, which is selling out well in advance.

As the Isle Of Wight isn’t the biggest island for die-hard music fans, it wasn’t long before Wet Leg crossed paths with Coach Party, who released their debut EP Nothing Is Real in April. The band’s main drive to write and perform music comes from the entertaining struggle of real life and musically they are inspired by a wide taste of artists, but are always drawn back to Nirvana, Sonic Youth and The Strokes, and contemporary artists such as Wolf Alice, The Big Moon and Tame Impala
