Organized by the New Circus Association in collaboration with the French organization Territoires de Cirque, the event will bring a vibrant program to Czech cities, featuring performances, workshops, and interactive activities with both local and international artists.
On Friday, November 15, the program begins with a discussion titled What Can Circus Offer Young People?, led by main instructor Kateřina Klusáková at the CIRQUEON center in Prague’s Nusle district. Saturday, November 16, offers a full day of activities starting with a workshop on aerial acrobatics on unusual objects at CIRQUEON, followed by the Young Open Stage for young artists and open training in the afternoon. The program then moves to the CIRQUEON LAB for the Circus Laboratory, where visitors can get a glimpse into the creative process of contemporary circus works. Performers like Aleš Hrdlička with Orbiting Zero and Ondra Holba with The Principle of Uncertainty will be featured, along with acts by Cirkus TeTy and artists such as Michaela Stará and Hannah Lenox.
In Prague, Circus Nights will take place across multiple venues. KD Mlejn will host a morning circus workshop for toddlers and an afternoon circus battle game. CIRQUEON has prepared a two-day program focused on contemporary circus arts, including an aerial acrobatics workshop, flash mob, creative lab, and discussions with instructors from this renowned new circus center in Nusle.
Another part of the program will be held at Jatka78, where the Dutch-German-Belgian acrobatic trio Knot on Hands will present their performance Concrete. Losers Cirque Company will then present their acrobatic show The Audition at Divadlo BRAVO, where the audience decides the winner.
Circus Nights is part of the global La Nuit du Cirque project, which began in France in 2019 and now spans 14 countries, including Belgium, the USA, Canada, and Germany.
