The jungle that does not sleep

From 16 January to 14 March 2026, the Prague Botanical Garden invites visitors to a unique experience called Jungle That Never Sleeps – Evening Guided Tours of the Fata Morgana Greenhouse.

This popular event offers a rare opportunity to explore a tropical rainforest at a time when it is normally closed to the public – after dark.

A nighttime visit to the Fata Morgana greenhouse reveals a completely different side of tropical nature than a daytime tour. The jungle does not fall silent at night; quite the opposite. Some plant species bloom only after sunset, releasing intense, intoxicating fragrances. Soft calls of tropical frogs echo through the space, while atmospheric lighting creates the feeling of a real rainforest after dusk.

During the winter months, the Fata Morgana greenhouse becomes an oasis of greenery and life. Visitors gradually walk through three climate zones with different temperatures and humidity levels, showcasing plants from tropical and partially subtropical regions. Towering trees, lush ferns, blooming begonias, orchids, and other exotic plants create an almost magical environment, especially in the evening hours.

The guided tours last approximately one hour and are designed mainly for adults and older children. Thanks to expert commentary, visitors learn fascinating facts about the nighttime life of tropical plants, their adaptations, and how the greenhouse itself operates. Group sizes are limited to a maximum of 18 people, ensuring a calm and intimate atmosphere.
