Festival of Architecture Vienna

From 2 to 4 March 2023, Vienna will celebrate an anniversary – the 21st TURN ON architecture festival – in the Great Broadcasting Hall of the ORF. Every year, the festival is dedicated to current architecture in the sense of “building culture”. How quality building becomes possible is a far-reaching question with many facets. Over the years, the network between architecture, business and politics has been continuously expanded and deepened.

The times are calling for a “turnaround in thinking”. In this sense, the term “turn of the times” refers to an active moment of shaping. For only through conscious, creative action can the current multiple crises be resolved. As a consequence, the questions arise: What does this mean for architecture? What are the constants, what are the new factors for a building-cultural development at the turn of the times? The programme of TURN ON 2023 brings together a wide range of perspectives and opinions and is intended as a pool of ideas. The numerous lectures will follow the familiar sequence, and the two programme tracks will continue to focus on different topics.
