Dürnstein is a little town 80 km away from Vienna. But every year it is visited by more than 1 million people. Tourists and locals alike. Why? For those who like history and architecture, there is a beautiful Abbey rebuilt in baroque style in the early 18th century. The ruins of the medieval castle overlooking this cosy little town are also something which is worth to see. And to complete the adventure you can go and book one of the boat rides here and bask in the sunset you´ll only see on the Danube.
For those who enjoy food and drinks…. you definitely won´t be disappointed either. Since Dürnstein lays in the Wachau region which is well known for its delicious wines, there is an enormous amount of wine cellars and taverns where you can spend the evening enjoying the taste of Austrian wine.
