What happens inside a research laboratory, how are the latest scientific discoveries made, and what is a day in the world of researchers really like? On September 25 and 26, the world of science comes to life in Budapest during Researchers’ Night, offering visitors exciting, interactive and often spectacular programs.
Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide event series designed to bring science and research careers closer to the general public. In Budapest, numerous universities, research centers and scientific institutions open their doors during this weekend, giving visitors the opportunity to explore places that are not normally accessible to the public.
The program includes entertaining and easy-to-understand lectures, spectacular experiments, laboratory tours, interactive demonstrations and playful activities. With such a wide range of scientific fields represented, there is something for everyone — from natural sciences and technology to medicine, environmental research and social sciences.
One of the special features of the event is that science is not only something to listen to, but something you can experience up close. Visitors can watch experiments, ask researchers questions, learn about modern research methods and even get a behind-the-scenes look at laboratories that are not usually open to the public.
Researchers’ Night is also a great choice for a family program, as the playful and interactive activities make science enjoyable and accessible for younger visitors as well. For older students, the event can also provide valuable career inspiration, offering the chance to learn directly from researchers what scientific work is like in practice and what opportunities a career in research can offer.
Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required for most of the more popular lectures, laboratory tours and workshops. It is therefore worth checking the Budapest program in advance and reserving your preferred activities, as places for some programs may fill up quickly.
If you are looking for a weekend program in Budapest that is entertaining, unique and educational at the same time, Researchers’ Night is a great opportunity to step behind the scenes of the scientific world — whether through a spectacular experiment, an exciting lecture or a special laboratory tour.
