Chimney Cake Festival

From May 16 to 18, sweet aromas will once again fill the magical surroundings of the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden as the Kürtőskalács Vigalom (Chimney Cake Festival) returns for its spring celebration!
Now in its fifth edition, this smaller sibling of one of Hungary’s most beloved gastronomic events welcomes chimney cake enthusiasts, families, children, and anyone who cannot resist the charm of this golden, aromatic treat.

Held in the area next to the Biodome, the festival promises a truly special atmosphere: the proximity to nature, the sight of exotic animals, and the scent of freshly baked chimney cakes combine into an experience like no other.
This year’s event also marks two special anniversaries: the Édes Mackó Chimney Cake Confectionery celebrates its 7th birthday, and the Vitéz Kürtős Kiosk at the Zoo marks its 16th year – two iconic spots that have become household names among chimney cake lovers.

The three-day festival offers much more than just the chance to sample countless variations of chimney cake. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of family-friendly programs, including exciting animal shows, creative craft workshops for children, interactive quizzes, a giant mill game, and a themed photo corner.
Live music performances will further enhance the cheerful, springtime atmosphere throughout the event.

A unique aspect of the Kürtőskalács Vigalom is that it grants full access to the Zoo as well: with a single entrance ticket, visitors can not only participate in the festival programs but also explore the wonders of the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden.
This transforms the chimney cake celebration into a full-day family experience, where children and adults alike are sure to find countless memorable moments.
