Night of Movement

If there’s one evening in Budapest when the entire city gets moving, it’s the Night of Movement. On June 12, Heroes’ Square and City Park will once again transform into a giant open-air sports festival, where thousands of people can take part in dozens of activities completely free of charge from the evening until the early hours of the morning.

Over the years, the event has grown into Hungary’s largest free sports festival, welcoming everyone from experienced athletes to complete beginners looking to try something new. With a huge variety of activities on offer, there’s something for every age group and fitness level.

Visitors can choose from dozens of sports throughout the night. Running events, roller skating, cycling tours, guided walks, yoga sessions, spinning classes, zumba, fitness workouts, team sports and interactive challenges will all be available. Around Heroes’ Square, sports courts, training zones and activity stations will keep participants busy, while City Park’s lake offers opportunities to try kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and even dragon boating.

One of the most popular attractions every year is the Latin dance area, where salsa, bachata and other Caribbean rhythms fill the air all night long. Beginners can join free dance lessons, while experienced dancers can enjoy an open-air dance party until late.

The festival also features spectacular visual elements, including illuminated sports fields, LED-powered activities, climbing walls and nighttime water sports, creating a unique atmosphere across some of Budapest’s most iconic locations.

Night of Movement is part of Hungary’s Ötpróba sports challenge programme, meaning participants can also collect points by completing selected activities during the event.

Whether you want to go for a late-night run, try a new sport, learn a few salsa moves or simply enjoy an active summer evening outdoors, this is one of Budapest’s most exciting and unique events of the season.
