44th National Dance House Meeting

In April 2025, the National Dance House Meeting and Fair will once again take place, marking one of Hungary’s most significant folk music and dance events. This three-day festival centers around the dance house method, which is recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and is officially classified as a Hungarikum. The event aims to bring visitors closer to the magic of living folk art, allowing them to experience the joy of dancing, music, and celebration together.

This year’s event kicks off on April 4th with a grand opening dance house at Fonó Budai Zeneház, welcoming all lovers of folk music and dance. The evening’s music will be provided by traditional folk bands from across the borders, including Szászcsávási Zenekar and Magyarpalatkai Banda.

A special highlight of the opening night is the first-ever South Slavic dance house in the event’s history. This segment will feature performances by ViGaD Zenekar (Szentendre), Orkestar PLANINA (Mohács), and Orkestar Radost (Mohács), ensuring an unforgettable atmosphere. Dance instructors József Szávai and Zsófia Kovácsovics will guide participants through the world of South Slavic dances.

This evening is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in authentic Hungarian and South Slavic folk music, as well as those who want to dance to the melodies of traditional folk bands.
