Spend the night in the museum!

At night, the museum also falls silent, the exhibition halls are plunged into darkness, only the moon illuminates the mirror of the girl in the dark, in the reflected light of which the outline of the Virgin Mary’s bed appears. But can we be sure that the building is lifeless if we have never seen what a night in a closed museum is like, what happens to the objects after the lights are turned off?

Now is the opportunity to see it with your own eyes. Come and spend an exciting night with us in the Ethnographic Museum!

Wander through the spaces, corridors, warehouse, with a flashlight in hand. Let’s get to know a finished exhibition together and finish a half-finished one! Try sleeping on a suban, assemble a bunk bed, rest leaning against a shepherd’s crook, pull out the table bed, take a short nap on a bus ride, doze off in a hammock, make a bed on a camp bed and build a den with the others. In the meantime, you can immerse yourself in the world of sleep and night, tell about your habits, tell how you rock yourself to sleep, and wake up the next day with the chirping birds of the grove.

A separate floor has been designed in the new building of the Ethnographic Museum for the Children’s Museum, and within it a special space for the Night at the Museum! program. The latter takes place in a special setting, with several hours of experience-rich activities, optionally only in the early evening or throughout the night.

Its theme is sleep itself. We examine its conditions, analyzing how it adapts to the alternation of light and darkness, heat and cold. We gather information on how to prepare for the night, what physical and imaginary protection to provide ourselves with. We reveal what we think about their dreams, and they try out special beds and sleeping situations from the museum’s very rich collection.

We do all this by playing the game of completing a half-finished exhibition, where the participants can be ethnographers themselves, searching the collection storehouse, and waking up in the morning, incorporating their insights, along with their own beds, into the museum’s brand new exhibition they have created.

Bring with you:

– your own sleeping bag and small pillow,
– a water bottle and cold food for dinner, and a small snack for breakfast,
– a hygiene kit (only washing, brushing hands, face, and teeth are allowed),
– comfortable, layered clothing (sleeping clothes on request), slippers (change of shoes), or a change of socks,
– and your favorite plush toy!
