Chimney Cake Festival at the Zoo

In October, one of the city’s most iconic sweets will once again sizzle over the embers – the 12th Chimney Cake Festival is coming to the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden. For three days, the event will tempt visitors with crunchy delights, special flavors, and a wide variety of family-friendly programs.

Everyone will find their favorite at the festival: alongside the classic cinnamon, walnut, vanilla, and coconut chimney cakes, there will be new specialties to discover – including the creamy Kürtős Krémes and the legendary Kürtős Bon. Those with food sensitivities won’t be left out either: completely gluten-free chimney cakes, made with separate equipment, will also be available.

This year, the festival has an especially generous heart: by choosing the raspberry chimney cake, visitors will also be supporting a good cause – 15% of the purchase price will go to the Pink Gasztro initiative, which raises awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Ten chimney cake stands will be waiting for guests, including the festival’s guest of honor, the Lehel Kürtősház from Székely Land, where the story of Vitéz Kürtős began. In addition to gastronomic experiences, three stages and six program areas will provide entertainment: children’s performances, craft workshops, acoustic concerts, and live bands will keep the atmosphere vibrant.

The festival experience is completed with a stroll through the zoo itself, since the event is accessible with a zoo entry ticket – making nature just as much a part of the celebration as the sweets.
