The Qualitons album launch

We are very happy to announce that The Qualitons will perform in Hungary in May! After the rumours that the popular band had split up in 2022, nobody expected this news. But it seems that the audience can rejoice, because an unsurpassed concert is coming to the Hungarian House of Music this spring.

Qualitons, one of the most internationally acclaimed bands of recent years, announced their disbandment in the spring of 2022, at the height of their popularity. But the story didn’t end there. Some members of the group, who had been a creative community, came together again in the rehearsal room without expectations, for the joy of making music. This is how Qualitons was born again, and with its current line-up (Levente Boros, Ernő Hock, Ádám Menyhei, Barna Szőke, András Weil), it opens a new chapter in the history of the orchestra. By their own admission, they started working on their new album with an adolescent verve. Their new album, to be released in the spring, will be much more jammy and cohesive in its mood, despite the fact that it will also feature afrobeat, hip-hop, electronic instrumentation and even the crime-fighting serial music of the eighties. The audience will be able to hear the full album for the first time at the Hungarian House of Music on 10 May, but of course the repertoire will also include a few songs from Qualitons’ earlier days. Qualitons was the first Hungarian band to be invited to one of America’s hottest new music discovery radio stations, the iconic KEXP studio. They have toured halfway around the world, from Germany to Spain and France. They were regulars at various showcase festivals and were invited to the SXSW festival in Texas, where they won the JanSport competition. With three popular albums, a smash hit EP Kexek, a tribute to the legendary band Kex, and a double sold-out album release, the news of their split came on the back of a joyous return to the scene. It’s even better that they’re coming with a new album, which the audience can hear live at the House of Music for the first time.
