The 12th edition of the Sehenswert Film Festival, organised by the Embassy of Switzerland, the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Goethe Institute awaits you from 5 to 15 October. Screenings will include a selection of German-language masterpieces and this year’s program will include two high-quality co-productions from the participating countries, Sisi & Ich and Alma & Oskar. There will also be a number of German-Swiss and German-Austrian co-productions, which have won several awards, including awards at the Berlin Film Festival, the Bavarian Film Prize and the German Film Prize.
The films in this year’s program are divided into four sections:
– The films in the Community Conflicts section (Das Lehrerzimmer, Sonne und Beton, Alle reden übers Wetter) deal with the internal conflicts of closed communities in schools, universities or residential areas.
– In the Outsiders and eccentrics section, there are films about the two artists mentioned above, Alma and Sisi, and Der Fuchs, a true story of a lonely young soldier in the Second World War.
– In the Attractions and Choices section, Die Roter Himmel, Die Nachbarn von Oben and Die goldenen Jahre tell the story of the love conflicts of the young, middle-aged and older generations with comic devices or with a sad serenity.
– And finally, two documentaries, Vienna Calling and Anima – die Kleider meines Vaters, confront us with alternative lifestyles.
This year the festival will again be held in Budapest, Debrecen, Szeged and Pécs. In addition, Veszprém, the European Capital of Culture, has joined the series of events as a new venue. This year, we have organised discussions for seven different films with guests from the three countries or experts from Hungary – we look forward to the post-screening audience meetings and discussions.
