We have a great tip for all fans of Karel Gott’s songs! The musical Čas růží (Time of Roses) will be performed on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kuchajda Amphitheater in Bratislava. Čas růží is a Czech musical project created as a tribute to the legendary singer Karel Gott.

What can you look forward to?

1. Live performance

Powerful vocal performances and a live orchestra added energy to the show.

2. Music by Karel Gott

The musical is based on the songs of legendary singer Karel Gott, whose music has accompanied several generations. Songs such as Když muž se ženou snídá, Lady Carneval, and Být stále mlád come to life in a new context and evoke strong emotions.

3. Original story

This is not a classic biographical musical. The plot is a fictional story about love, loss, and self-discovery, into which the songs are incorporated as a natural part of the story. This allows the audience to perceive Karel Gott’s music in a new light.

4. Musical actors

The leading roles are played by experienced musical actors who breathe new life into the songs while respecting their original power and meaning.

5. Emotional staging and direction

The visuals, set design, and choreography are carefully crafted to emphasize the atmosphere of each song while supporting the plot.

6. For all generations

The musical will appeal to older audiences who grew up with the songs, as well as younger viewers who can discover the timelessness of Gott and his music through the powerful story.

Plot:

The Time of Roses is not a story about Karel Gott, but a fictional story based on his songs. The plot follows a young man from a small town who falls in love with a girl, and their story is intertwined with Karel Gott’s songs. The musical features many of Gott’s greatest hits, which frame and drive the plot forward.

The performance features more than 20 of Gott’s well-known songs, such as:

“Lady Carneval”

“I’ll sweeten my coffee”

“Staying young”

“Trezor”

“I’ll stay true to myself”

“C’est la vie”

Interesting facts:

Karel Gott was personally involved in the project – he approved the selection of songs and collaborated with the creators.

The musical was met with great audience interest, and the Karlín Theater was sold out for a long time.

The music was arranged in a modern style, but with respect for the original style.
