The timeless hits of the legendary singer, nine-time Golden Nightingale Hana Zagorová are accompanied by a story that everyone can experience. The plot of the musical revolves around the three main female characters, who are able to accept even serious situations with humour and detachment, they know how to tease each other a little, make fun of each other, but in important moments they hold each other up.

A total of 24 famous songs by the legendary singer, author and nine-time Golden Nightingale winner Hana Zagorová will be performed in the new original Czech musical Biograf láska (Love Biography), which was first staged by the Kalich Theatre and the No.Art company on 16 September 2022 and is still sold out.

The script was written by the successful writer and publicist Uljana Donátová, and the direction and set design were entrusted to actor and set designer Jan Kříž. Similarly, the theatre relied on the talent of costume designer Radek Fišer, whom musical audiences have so far known primarily as a dancer.

The choreographer of the show is Petra Parvoničová, the author of the musical score is Ľubomír Dolný, who has already collaborated on several respected musical titles at the Kalich Theatre.

“With the producers of the musical, we chose a basic portfolio of songs at the very beginning, which we were convinced simply had to be heard in the musical. These are songs that characterise Hana Zagorová as a singer and are inextricably linked to her; the listener immediately remembers them at the first notes. But during the process, we also found those that, thanks to the emotions they convey, help to complete and move the story and the characters of the heroes,” says Uljana Donátová, the author of the script, about the beginnings of work on the musical.

About the story itself, she reveals: “I wanted a love story with Hana Zagora’s songs that absolutely everyone can experience. That’s why the three main female characters, around whom the whole plot of the musical revolves, are able to accept even serious situations with humour and detachment, they are able to kind of poke fun at each other, make fun of each other, but in important moments hold each other up. But the men in this story also have an important, even essential role.”

The cast came from several rounds of auditions. Eight adult roles, two child roles and a company role were waiting to be cast. “I would never presume to give advice to ready-made, excellent singers. I think that everyone can certainly handle it on their own, I would just advise them to forget a little bit about my interpretation and to put in a piece of their opinion, a piece of their self and assert their personality,” Hana Zagorova told the actors at the beginning of their work on the musical Biograf láska Hana Zagorova.
