In December, Bratislava is immersed in a festive atmosphere, with streets lit up with lights and Christmas decorations. And Christmas would not be complete without the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the ballet The Nutcracker, which is not only a symbol of Christmas but also of childhood and magical fairy tales that never lose their charm.
The Wiener Stadtballett is synonymous with elegance, precision and deep emotional experience. Its mission is to preserve and develop the rich traditions of classical ballet, where movement becomes the language of the soul. The ensemble is made up of graduates of the most prestigious choreographic schools in Europe, who combine perfect technique with extraordinary acting. On stage, they come to life in every gesture, in every movement – so authentically that the audience feels as if they themselves have become part of the action.
In addition, the performers will not be missing leading soloists from major European theaters. Their performances will be complemented by magnificent stage decorations and beautiful period costumes, which will enhance the magical atmosphere of the performances.

The Nutcracker:
The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is the second most famous ballet in the world in terms of recognition and number of performances. It was first performed on December 18, 1892, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
The story takes place on Christmas Eve in the home of Dr. Stahlbaum, his wife, and their children, daughter Maria and son Franz. Maria’s godfather, Drosselmeyer, brings her a gift, a soldier doll named The Nutcracker, about whom he tells her a beautiful story.
The festive evening ends and the guests leave. Marie returns to the living room to take another look at the Nutcracker, who has been left under the Christmas tree, and suddenly everything begins to change. The tree grows, and with it, the room changes into a huge hall. The toys, including the Nutcracker, come to life, and mice led by the Mouse King appear in the room. Opposing them is the brave Nutcracker with a small army of Christmas toys. Marie does not abandon her hero and helps him.
For all spectators who do not want to miss either of the performances of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker in each city, a special offer has been prepared: PERMANENT. When purchasing a ticket for both ballet evenings at the same venue and in the same price category, you will receive a ticket for the second performance with a 50% discount.
Do not miss the opportunity to experience these breathtaking performances, full of talented artists, stunning decorations and beautiful costumes that will enchant you in December 2025
Visiting The Nutcracker in Bratislava means indulging in a moment of peace, beauty and joy. It is a cultural experience that connects generations, awakens children’s imagination and reminds us that even in a fast-paced world, the magic of the classics still has a place.
