Piaf! The Show in Bratislava

On 1 December 2023 in Bratislava’s NTC Arena, the audience will have the opportunity to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the death of Edith Piaf – a woman whose position as the queen of chanson is undoubtedly immortal. In the performance “Piaf! The Show” will feature some great musicians.

L’Accordéoniste, La vie en rose, Hymne á l’amour, Padam…Padam…, Milord, Non, no regretterien – these Edith Piaf songs are treasures of the 20th century and the foundation of the chanson tradition. They will be brought to life in this performance by the respected French singer Nathalie Lermitte.

The singer is accompanied by a quartet of Parisian musicians and an ingenious use of projections of period Parisian images, particularly of Edith Piaf herself, in a breathtaking performance.

The first part of the two-part show offers a tour of Montmartre, the legendary bohemian district where music, art and beauty mixed with alcohol, prostitution and drugs, undoubtedly influencing the life and songs of the “little sparrow” of Paris. The second part of the show captures Edith at the height of her post-war fame, when her concerts, both at the Olympia in Paris and in many European venues, were bursting at the seams.

Behind the set of “Piaf! The Show” is the production team of Directo Productions, led by Gil Marsalla. “Our goal is to bring French music and the personality of Edith Piaf to a younger generation. At the same time, we want to allow the older generation to reminisce about the Parisian sparrow,” says producer Gil Marsalla about “Piaf! The Show.”
