The Slovak Philharmonic traditionally presents New Year’s Eve concerts, which will put visitors in the mood for the festive atmosphere this time as well. The programme includes famous songs and popular opera melodies. If you have the desire and the time, the New Year’s Eve concerts will be held again this year on 30 December 2025 at the Slovak Philharmonic and we are looking forward to them very much.

The turn of the new and old year is a magical time for many. We reminisce, take stock, and evaluate what we could have done differently or better. At the same time, we look forward to the diverse range of new experiences and life circumstances that the coming year will bring. Music has a magical power; it can get under your skin, stir up deeper emotions, and provide a space to step out of the whirlwind of life, at least temporarily.
The end of 2025 at the Slovak Philharmonic will belong to two leading Slovak soloists who grace opera productions, especially at their home base, the Vienna State Opera. Soprano Slávka Zámečníková and bass-baritone Peter Kellner are currently excelling in a new production of Smetana’s The Bartered Bride. The opera arias of characters they have often portrayed on the stage of opera houses will now come to life on the stage of the Slovak Philharmonic, contributing to a festive end to the year. Peter Valentovič, chief conductor of the National Theater in Košice, who has collaborated with artists such as Edita Gruberová, John Eliot Gardiner, and Franz Welser-Möst, is certainly an expert on the opera repertoire.
