EXHIBITION – AMFO 2024, Regional competition and exhibition of amateur photography, Bratislava Region, 52nd year

The exhibition of the Bratislava regional round of the AMFO 2024 National Amateur Photography Competition will take place from 6 May to 30 May 2024 during the opening hours – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Sunday from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. – in the cultural facility GALÉRIA LABYRINT, Municipal Cultural Centre Senec, Square 1. May 2, 90301 Senec.

The exposition of the exhibition consists of 136 photographic works by 43 authors, selected by an expert jury from 315 submitted works. The exhibition AMFO 2024 is varied in genre, technical and thematic terms, it presents the best that has been created in the last period through the lenses of non-professional creators from the Bratislava region, it creates a space for their dignified presentation and mutual confrontation.

“Photography is the only medium that can be created randomly and quickly. We don’t need any knowledge to create it, just a camera and a shutter release. Of course, I repeat, I’m talking about chance, the possibility of having the ideal conditions and circumstances for the creation of a photograph. What is ideal is also questionable. Is there really a right exposure, or just a desired exposure? It’s the same with colour or composition. It all depends on the intention of the author. In order to achieve his goal of putting together a quality project, he has to repeat situations, look for light, other coincidences, work with the archive, learn to think visually, continuously and creatively. And…that’s the hardest part of grasping and understanding the photographic medium captured by camera, cell phone, or latent paper print.

The exhibition itself is not based on a particular theme, but is playful and diverse, digitally in color and black and white. As diverse as the artists entered, each remains distinct and authentic. But together they form a whole.”

The opening of the exhibition on 16 May 2024 in the exhibition spaces of the cultural facility GALÉRIA LABYRINT, Municipal Cultural Centre Senec includes a professional seminar with experts in the field of photographic creation, combined with an award ceremony. The exhibition is open to the public, admission is free and you – lovers of photographic art, are cordially invited to it.
