The phenomenal work of Peter I. Tchaikovsky, Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov is undoubtedly the most famous title of the ballet repertoire.
The romantic story of Prince Siegfried and the beautiful Princess Odette, who is enchanted into the form of a swan, is a cornerstone of the classical Russian school of ballet and has been one of the most successful titles of the world’s theatres for over one hundred and thirty years.
The captivating music, the strong dramatic line with a romantic story of the duel of love and evil are a constant challenge for the choreographers of big names, and in terms of technical difficulty this work is a benchmark of the level of any ballet company.
After many traditional and less traditional productions, the repertoire of the Slovak National Theatre Ballet will be enriched by Rudolf Nureyev’s famous version. Thanks to the seemingly endless applause at the premiere, it has entered the Guinness Book of Records.
Iconic swan dances, grand choral scenes and dazzling pas de deux are a showcase of challenging dance technique. The spectacular new scenic and costume design for the story of the Swan Princess bears the signature of sought-after designer Jordi Roig.
Rudolf Nureyev’s choreography is presented courtesy of Editions Mario Bois – BMB Publishing France and the Noureev Fondation. The work is presented with the permission of Bärenreiter Verlag, exclusively represented by Alkor-Edition Kassel GmbH and Bärenreiter Praha s.r.o.
