Budapest Play: Street Music Festival & Competition

From August 6 to 8, Budapest Play – Street Music Festival & Competition brings the city’s most vibrant days to life. Over the course of three days, dozens of street musicians will fill Budapest’s busiest squares with music, transforming passersby into spontaneous audiences. This is when the festival reaches its peak, as every performer presents their final and most intense performances before the grand finale.

Ten locations across the city will simultaneously become open-air concert venues. Each musician performs twice—once at a downtown location and once at an outer-city venue—giving visitors the chance to discover new artists and musical styles throughout the festival. All concerts are free to attend, with no registration required.

The Competition & Awards

Artists compete in three categories for prizes including a performance opportunity at the Sziget Festival, professional producer mentorship, and valuable audio equipment awards. Visitors can vote for their favorite performers at the festival venues, and everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a prize draw to win Sziget Festival tickets.

The award ceremony will take place on August 8 at 6:00 PM at Fény Street Market.
