The magic of light and wildlife returns to illuminate Budapest’s nights once again! The Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden invites visitors to a truly unique experience — the Animals of the World – Chinese Lantern Festival, held from October 17, 2025, to February 22, 2026.

This extraordinary festival pays tribute to the ancient Chinese tradition of lantern-making while celebrating the beauty and diversity of the natural world through breathtaking light installations. Visitors can admire animals as they have never seen them before — glowing in vivid colors, shapes, and lights across the Zoo’s evening landscape.

The lanterns are crafted by master artisans from the Chinese city of Zigong, using traditional techniques combined with modern LED illumination. The spectacular displays feature creatures from every corner of the planet — from insects and birds to magnificent endangered species — blending art, culture, and nature in a mesmerizing nighttime journey.

Beyond the visual experience, the event also symbolizes the cultural dialogue between Hungary and China, highlighting how art and nature can bridge traditions and connect people through shared wonder.

The festival opens in the evenings — starting at 6 p.m. in October and 5 p.m. during the winter months — offering families and visitors a magical way to explore the Zoo after dark. Advance ticket purchases are available online at discounted prices.
