Jan Blomqvist is a German musician, singer, producer, and DJ known for combining live vocals and instruments with electronic music—he often performs with a full band as part of his energetic shows. Born Jan Freter (1982, Ahnsbeck, Germany), he started out in a grunge-punk band before turning to electronic music at the age of 20.
Education and move to Berlin: He initially studied aeronautical engineering and mathematics in Berlin, but around 2003 he interrupted his studies to devote himself to music – his first solo concert took place in 2008 at the Tresor club.
Breakthrough: He became famous with his cover of the song “Big Jet Plane” (2011) and his debut EP Ink on Stil vor Talent (2012). The video for his song Something Says, filmed on a rooftop, went viral.
