On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Prague Zoo will celebrate World Water Day, highlighting the importance of water for life on Earth.
Many animal species depend directly on water, and visitors to the zoo will have a unique opportunity to get closer to some of them through a special program.
The day will begin with a guided walk to observe water birds, starting at 9:30 AM at the main entrance. Participants will learn more about bird species closely connected to aquatic environments. At 11:30 AM, a tour focusing on amphibians will follow, and in case of bad weather, it will take place in the Indonesian Jungle pavilion. In the afternoon, there will be a sea lion training demonstration, which will surely captivate both children and adults.
In addition to themed walks, special guided feedings and encounters with selected animals will be available throughout the day. Highlights include feeding sessions for penguins, capybaras, pelicans, and North American otters. Visitors will also have the chance to see hippos in the Hippo Pavilion and water snakes in the terrarium. The program will conclude with a gathering at the Chambal Pavilion and a visit to the shoebills in the Bird Wetlands.
The entire program is included in the standard zoo admission fee and offers a great opportunity to learn more about the fascinating world of aquatic animals. Prague Zoo once again combines entertainment with education and emphasizes the importance of protecting aquatic ecosystems.
