Das Filmfest 2025 will arrive in Prague from October 15 to 19, bringing a diverse program full of contemporary German-language cinema.
The festival regularly introduces Czech audiences to films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that would otherwise have little chance of reaching local cinemas.
This year’s edition will feature both acclaimed and highly anticipated titles, including Fatih Akin’s new film Island of Amrum, the Oscar-nominated films The Peacock and Into the Sun, a docudrama about Thomas Mann, and a documentary dedicated to Leni Riefenstahl. The program will also include films reflecting on themes of identity, migration, the lives of ordinary people, and the turbulent events of the 20th century.
The festival is not just about screenings – visitors can also look forward to meetings with directors and actors who will personally introduce selected films. This will give audiences a unique behind-the-scenes insight into European cinema.
All films will be screened in their original language with Czech subtitles.
