Festival Kids, Do You Read?!

The “Kids, Do You Read?!” 2026 Festival will take place in Prague from September 18 to October 25 at various locations throughout the city.

The seventeenth edition of the festival, founded in 2010 by Iva Pecháčková, continues the tradition of adults and children sharing the experience of discovering the world of books. The purpose of the event is to present reading as a unique adventure that bridges generations and opens the door to imagination, dialogue, and creativity.

The festival traditionally features a selection of titles from the “Best Books for Children” catalog. In Prague, the program takes place at various venues, such as Werich Villa, the Central Municipal Library, Kunsthalle Prague, and Vzlet. Admission to all events is free, though reservations are required for some workshops.

The program offers a wide range of events—from author readings, discussions, and creative workshops to exhibitions, theater performances, and musical performances. Children can meet authors and illustrators, learn how books are made, and participate in creative activities inspired by literary stories.

This year’s guests include, for example, Dutch writer Enne Koens and Polish author and illustrator Przemek Liput, who were introduced at the opening ceremony at Werich Villa. Among the Czech creators featured in the Prague program were Ester Stará, Petra Pospěchová, Marek Toman, Petr Stančík, Marie Urbánková, and Dora Dutková.

The “Kids, Are You Reading?!” 2026 festival thus offers not only literary experiences but also the chance to discover new perspectives on the world through stories. Its atmosphere, which combines the adventure of reading with playfulness and creativity, makes the event a cultural highlight for both children and parents who want to explore the world of books together.

Current Prague program: On October 25, the art and literature workshop “To Antarctica!” with Vendula Tomšů and Barbora Vokálová will take place at Vzlet from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, but reservations are required.
