Bratislava Mozart Festival is an international music festival not only about Mozart. The festival celebrates the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It includes a series of concerts, performances and other activities that present Mozart’s compositions and his influence on classical music.

The festival often includes performances by local and international orchestras, chamber ensembles and soloists, as well as educational programs and workshops designed to promote an understanding of classical music. The festival is usually held at various venues in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and attracts music lovers from the local community and abroad. It is a great opportunity for participants to experience quality classical music in a beautiful setting.

Programme:

1. Mozart: QUARTETS, London Haydn Quartet & Eric Hoeprich

The elite British formation London Haydn Quartet will perform in Bratislava for the first time ever. In collaboration with the legendary American clarinetist Eric Hoeprich, they will present a programme featuring W. A. Mozart is not only arranged, but also arranged by the composer himself.

In the original sound of period instruments and the refined style of the guest artists, the arrangement of Mozart’s Violin Sonata by Johann A. André and Mozart’s arrangement of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue. The programme will conclude with a “hunting” string quartet, written by Mozart as a tribute to J. Haydn. Don’t miss this extraordinary event!

2. MUSICAL FOOTPRINTS OF BRATISLAVA, musical walk

This year there will also be a specialised music walk tailored to the festival programme. Together with Zuzka Godárová we will be looking for the MUSICAL FOOTPRINTS OF BRATISLAVA 👣. We cordially invite you to stroll through the city and search with us.We will conclude the walk at the Albrecht House on Kapitulska Street, where hot tea 🫖 and coffee ☕ will be waiting for you.

The walk is conducted in Slovak language.

3. Zimmermann & Mozart: LA LAMENTATIONE , final concert

The final concert of the 2024 festival edition is an invitation to the best Bratislava music from the time of Empress Maria Theresa.

“La Lamentatione” is the title taken from Anton Zimmermann’s grandiose symphony in C minor, which will offer both Sturm und Drang-style action drama and sombre lamentation in a breathtaking format. Another Zimmermann symphony in E minor and Mozart’s phenomenal Serenade KV 388, written for wind instruments in the charismatic Nachtmusique style, do not escape from the expressive positions outlined. The final festival offers an experience with both the stunning symphonic sound of Zimmermann’s symphonies and the sonic diversity of the richly represented wind instruments.
