Month of Photography Bratislava

In November, many places in Bratislava will become the home of photographs for whole month. Founded in 1991, the Month of Photography festival is the longest running domestic and internationally renowned festival in Slovakia and every year brings great photography projects that reflect the current events in the world.

The 33rd Month of Photography focuses on the historical and contemporary development of photography in Czechoslovakia and beyond. It will present documentaries of the State Secret Security and the iconic exhibition “Playing the Fourth” from 1986.

Part of the programme is dedicated to contemporary Slovak photographers such as Petra Župník and Jana Šturdíková.

The programme concentrates on the often overlooked works of photographers from Central and Eastern Europe. It also offers exhibitions featuring current journalistic photography, the CERN science project and the cultures of Afghanistan and Iran.

Most noteworthy is the work of Canadian singer Bryan Adams, whose photographs have reached audiences around the world and won him several awards. His work will be featured as part of the Exposed series, which includes portraits of famous personalities.
